Who’s Your Daddy?! … GOOGLE

Google rankingIf you own or run a business that relies on your website to attract clients to make money, this post is for you. This is a reality check. If you still think that Google doesn’t run your world, you are wrong. Google undoubtably has a strong hold on the search market. Once you accept this, you can win.

The thing about Google search is that Google does not discriminate. Not to my knowledge at least. Actually, Google’s algorithms have been designed to be as fair as possible to website publishers while faithfully serving their clientele (searchers). Google’s job is to deliver the most relevant, engaging content as possible. Aside from Google paid ad words or the like, Google’s duty is to solve your problem. To find the best results for your query.

Knowing this, if you play your cards right, are patient and persistent with your efforts, you can be best friends with Google and rank above your competition, guaranteed. This is not something that can be done overnight. You need to consistently provide Google what it needs to recognize and trust your brand.

What is Google looking for?

Google

Google constantly sends bots throughout the web world, scanning billions of sites daily. It is looking for content, keywords, meta data, site statistics, high quality links, the health of your site, etc. Do you have fresh content on your site that answers a question its searchers are looking for? Are people visiting your site consistently? How long do they stay on your site for, and how many pages do they view?
Google uses over 200 factors to determine the relevancy of your web page and ranks accordingly.

What that means for you?

Even if you are a teeny tiny company, you have the opportunity to be indexed first page on Google search. If you have the time and/or the money and the patience, it can and will happen.

How?

1 part strategy, 1 part labor, and 1 part patience.
This can get really complicated if you let it. Most importantly, focus on the following and when in-doubt, hire an expert:

  • Good on-page and on-post SEO practices
  • Publish quality content on a regular basis paying specific attention to keywords you wish to rank for.
  • Build reciprocating links with reputable websites
  • Share your content and create social media engagement
  • Monitor your search health using advanced software such as SEMRush
